Updating sole trader, partnership or trust details
As a sole trader, partnership or trust, MyNZBN is where you take control of your business information. Your NZBN will work to its full potential for both your business and others you work with when your core business information such as trading name, email and phone number is up-to-date.
Why update your details
The more businesses that use the NZBN, the better it will become for everyone. By keeping your details up-to-date, the organisations you deal with know they can rely on your details being accurate on the NZBN Register. So, make sure you keep information such as your physical address, phone number and email up-to-date, and save yourself time and money not having to repeat the same details over and over to different suppliers, customers, other businesses or government.
Encourage your customers and suppliers to do the same with their details. That way whenever you need core information about a business, you can go to the NZBN Register, find their details and be confident you’re using up-to-date information.
Make sure your core business information is publicly available
The more core business information (also known as Primary Business Data) you make public, the more value you’ll get out of your NZBN. It’ll be much easier for your customers, suppliers and other businesses to access and make use of your data when they interact with you.
When updating your details, we recommend you make your data publicly available, so everyone can use it – and let your NZBN work for you.

How to update your details
What you need before you start
To update the details of your business, there are a couple of things you’ll need:
- A RealMe® login (if you don’t have one, you can create one below)
- Confirmed authority over your business
- The details you want to update
If you’ve registered your business before
You’ll need to use the same login as when you registered. If you can’t remember your login or password, use the link below.
If you registered your own business and use the same RealMe login as when you registered, you’ll already have confirmed authority over it, and you’re all set to start your updates.
If you’ve found your business on the NZBN Register, but you’re not the one who registered it
You’ll need a RealMe account.
If you use (or have used) a RealMe account to access another government agency, you can use that to log in to the NZBN Register. Once you’re logged in, you’ll need to confirm your authority to update information for your business.
If you don't have a RealMe account yet, you can create one the first time you log in, or through the link below.
Forgotten your RealMe login or password
Suspending or resuming trading
When updating your details, you can choose to change the status of your business to “On hold (inactive)”, if your business has temporarily stopped trading.
When you begin trading again, you can update your business’ status by changing your status to “Registered (active)”.
