New Zealand's leading tradie marketplace, Builderscrack(external link) has over 12,000 trade professionals ready to go – all of them New Zealand Business Number (NZBN)-verified.
Builderscrack requires its tradespeople to sign up for NZBN, a globally unique identifier available to every Kiwi business — whether self-employed or a major corporation.
NZBN is the only business register that captures primary business information for sole traders, and signing up is a simple process that can be done online.
“We use NZBN because it’s a trusted, government-backed identifier that gives us and our users that extra assurance,” says Builderscrack General Manager, Jeremy Wyn-Harris.
Subscription to the NZBN API is proving a bonus too. The API is a kind of messenger in the back-end of the system that takes requests for information to the NZBN Register, and delivers a response back.
Through the API, Builderscrack systems are integrated with NZBN data allowing it to automatically find, share, and update information about the businesses on its platform.
“It’s a huge benefit for us to get these automatic alerts letting us know when one of the tradies on our site has a change of status or ownership. We can go back to them and verify that information, ensuring all data on our site is up-to-date,” says Builderscrack Customer Support Manager, Lucie de Boehmler.
That’s a simple explanation for a lot of technical wizardry that happens ‘behind the scenes’, so make sure that your business is maximising the use of the NZBN by keeping your business information complete, up-to-date, and set the privacy to ‘public’.
