“And now things are running smoothly,” jokes Roman Jewell, who produces a variety of gourmet smooth (and crunchy) peanut butters from his family business in central Wellington.
Founded in 2014, Fix & Fogg have grown from selling jars at local farmers’ markets to being stocked across New Zealand and Australia - and they’ve recently broken into the US market.
“Our key to success is that we do one thing really well – making award-winning peanut butter,” explains Andrea Jewell, Roman’s wife and co-founder.
The NZBN is a unique identifier for every Kiwi business that links to the information businesses are most often asked to share, such as their trading name, physical address and email.
With over 20 handy bits of business information available on the NZBN Register, finding these details is now quick and easy, so businesses don’t have to keep repeating themselves.
Roman says this speeds things up when you’re on-boarding a new supplier or business customer.
“When we’re working with someone new, we just ask for their NZBN,” says Roman.
“We can find their details on the government’s NZBN Register, which means we can be sure the information is accurate.”
Once you know the NZBN of a business, you can sign up to receive watchlist alerts any time their information changes, so you don’t need to worry about having out-of-date details in your system.
The NZBN isn’t just for companies – you can find details for sole traders, partnerships, trusts, charities, government agencies and more.
When it comes down to the crunch, Roman and Andrea can now spend less time on paperwork and more time doing what they love - whether that’s coming up with a new best-selling peanut butter flavour for their US customers, or simply enjoying a PB sandwich at the beach with their daughter Thea.
